Amazing Sloppy Joe!

I LOVE LOVE a good BBQ sloppy joe. I grew up on that can manwhich mix. When I grew up and started trying out recipes, I knew a good sloppy joe is what I had to learn. I played around with some recipes I found, added my own touches and WOW I can cook! LOL. Here goes:

2 lbs lean ground beef (OR 1 lb each of turkey and beef)

About 1 cup of ketchup

1-2 cans of diced tomatoes with juices

Dash of chili powder

Dash of garlic powder

About 1/2 bottle or so of BBQ sauce (I use sweet baby rays)

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

2 tbsp sugar (white)

2 tbsp black pepper

Onions, if wanted, optional

1-2 cups shredded cheese

Hamburger buns, texas toast, or garlic bread

Another simple recipe here. Brown the meat and drain, then add everything in the pan. Simmer for about 15 minutes so the meat absorbs all the flavor. We have served this over texas toast, garlic bread (open faced) or just buns. Anything is good with this. The BBQ sauce and ketchup, just add until you get the consistency you are aiming for. Some like a sloppy joe thick and some like them… well sloppy for lack of better terms. Either way, its amazing. Top with cheese and serve! It warms up great the next day for left overs as well. =)
