Homemade Country Gravy

Remember this! 4,4,2

4 tablespoon oil

4 tablespoons all purpose flour

2 cups whole milk

Then: Add salt and pepper

Remember: let the flour and oil cook for 1-2 minutes so the flour will combine and not taste like straight flour. This will become a roux. Then add the milk and whisk to keep the lumps out. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly with the whisk until desired thickness. It will boil a bit to thicken. This is a white gravy. Can also be used as a sausage gravy, just add cooked sausage near the end.
