1.5 lbs LEAN ground beef
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cambells french onion soup
1/2 cup each of celery, purple onion and green bell pepper, diced small
1/2 can water
1.5 cups short or medium grain white or brown rice
Seasonings of your choice
Mix all together and cover with foil. Bake at 350* – 375* for about an hour and 15 minutes or so, until the rice is cooked. (Don’t forget to check the rice, sometimes mine will take an extra 20 minutes when I use brown rice instead of white.)
Also, I wanted to add an updated version of this recipe I created for less cook time. This works in a pinch and is almost just as good! I call it, Quick Dirty Rice.
All the same ingredients. Just precook the rice, or use cooked minute rice and the hamburger. Throw it all together, and use BEEF BROTH instead of the water. Sautéed the veggies just a bit to help them cook faster in the oven. I cooked it at 425* for 30 minutes or until all warm and veggies are soft. A LOT faster and just as tasty!
